Why so special? Because it is two days late that is why.
Tuesday was of course pancake day or if you are a Christian shrove Tuesday. no this isn’t a religious post about traditions.
In this house the kids love pancake day, well i think its the fact that it is the ‘offical’ day where you cannot possibly have anything else to eat for tea other than pancakes.
It all started when they were little as a fun way to get them to try different foods, a little like making pizzas, it is such an easy fun thing to do where the kids can be hands on with their food. I make the pancakes using the same technique, flour & egg & milk ratio my grandma used, that woman has always been a huge influence on me let’s face it.
With thanks to my digestive system and body in general not a single pancake passed these lips, not that the kids mind one bit “more pancakes for the pancake eaters” and indeed there were more pancakes for them as it turns out you can make just over 20 in 45 minutes.
My youngest was helping me set up the various toppings, comment were made about there being no apple sauce this year “are we really that poor we cannot afford apple sauce?” hmm thanks son, it was then pointed out it was either chocolate sauce or apple .. he was happy.
This year’s new guest to come round and try my pancakes was *drum roll* Chris from barefoot with nature
Just as the last few were being cooked I started to ponder on how long it would be for my eldest to come down the stairs, he had been upstairs on his computer since getting in from college, had had already posted on facebook “GOD DAMMIT WANT MA PANCAKES XD x” so I decided to do an experiment. I posted this picture onto my facebook and within two minutes sure enough he was out of his room and in the kitchen confused as to why I was laughing to myself.
I am thinking seven is the maximum amount an 11 year old boy. He was trying so hard to eat the very last one, doing his best to make sure it lived out its purpose of being eaten, sad at the thought it was going have a wasted life, we did suggest saving it for later but that couldn’t happen either as the loneliness from not being with the other pancakes while being digested in his tummy. It was indeed a sad end to a happy pile of pancakes.
