Has decided I am not who I say I am. I find it amusing that it tells me to “use the name I go by in real life” i think it’s bull shit that it’s so my friends know who I am as most of my friends call me Froggy or hippie. I think it has more to do with the ability of selling data and being able to of course “help fight against terror” which we all know is the government’s new catch phrase as get out of jail free card when it comes to privacy issues.
I also have friends that I have no idea of what their birth names are, we all use either our online or faery names … Seriously wouldn’t have a clue who they were if they messaged me using their ‘real’ names
As for sending facebook ID
Nope not going to happen, do I trust Facebook with a copy of my official ID (which as they don’t appear to accept provision driving licenses means I do not have any anyway) or copies of bank statement etc? Although I am pretty sure these can be made on a computer with false information on anyway so what’s stopping people from using fake ID? Ok they can check with government ID’s but what about bank statements etc? Do they have someone who’s job is to contact said places to verify? And if they are just taking them at face value then I may as well make it up … Defeating the point in providing ID anyway
Needless to say my account has been
deactivated leaving me with mixed feelings.
I’m not a huge facebook user, I grew bored of it a while ago but did like it for promoting my work but most importantly it gave me the ability to keep in touch with my online family who I’ve met over the years and some communities that I am a part of. I would be less annoyed if I’d at least had chance to tell everyone and to exchange emails and numbers with those that I hadn’t yet.
I am looking into other social networking sites though so hopefully I can coax friends over and let the word spread through the grape vine.
